About the work

As part of my cinematography class at Bond University, Australia, I produced a 30 second TV commercial for a semester assignment. The brief was to create a broadcast style ad, and I decided to build my project around the DJI Avata FPV drone, combining cinematic live action with real footage captured directly on the Avata. The finished commercial received a High Distinction grade.

The live action was shot on a Sony FS7 with Xeen CF and Zeiss Compact Prime lenses, then blended with Avata footage to create a tight, energetic spot that feels grounded and immersive at the same time.

Behind the Work

I handled the project end to end, from concept and planning through to final post production. I organised actors, scouted locations, and designed the shot list to make the live action and FPV footage feel like one cohesive world. On set, I worked with a production assistant who supported the shoot so I could stay focused on camera, lighting, and performance.

In post, I cut the commercial to a strong pacing curve and matched the look between the FS7 footage and the Avata recordings. The goal was a polished, broadcast ready result that sells the experience of FPV while keeping the visuals cinematic and controlled.
