About work
A Part of Me is a poetic psychodrama that follows a man into a dense forest, where he comes face to face with a manifested fragment of himself. What begins as fear and rejection turns violent - an attempt to destroy what feels unfamiliar and “dark.” Yet his apparent victory collapses when the repressed side strikes back. In the aftermath of violence, both selves find an uneasy peace. The man emerges from the forest transformed: scarred, but finally reconciled with his own shadow.
A film about fear, self-denial, and the fragile act of making peace with one’s inner darkness.
Behind the Film
Directed by Dorian Valdayo Brkic and Lucas Schulte, A Part of Me was created as a low-budget, two-person production - shot, recorded, and edited by the two of us.
Working with a minimal crew shaped the film’s language: intimate, focused, and tactile. We kept the process lean in order to prioritize atmosphere, performance, and emotional clarity - letting the forest become both a real location and a psychological space. The result is a raw, personal piece where form and story mirror each other: a confrontation, a rupture, and a quiet reconciliation.
Services offered:
Directing
We guided performance and pacing to keep the confrontation intimate and emotionally precise, even at its most violent or surreal.
Cinematography
We designed the visual language around texture, distance, and movement, using the forest as both setting and inner landscape.
Editing
We crafted rhythm and suspense in the cut, balancing clarity with ambiguity so the story unfolds like a psychological rupture.
Sound Design & Mix
We sculpted the sonic world to amplify unease and release—using restraint as a tool, not an absence.
